The Bear Creek S.S. Kodiaks won a thriller on Tuesday afternoon at the Holly Community Centre over the St. Joan of Arc Knights in a shootout. The Kodiaks were down early as the Knights scored 2 goals in the first period. Late in the second, the Kodiaks were able to tie the game, only to have the Knights answer instantly to regain their 1 goal lead. Heading into the third, down 3-2, the Kodiaks came out flying and scored in the opening 2 minutes to tie the game. The Knights gained the lead midway through the third period and it looked as though the Kodiaks were on the ropes. With less than a minute remaining in the third, the Kodiaks tied the game to send it to overtime. The overtime period was an eventful one, including a huge Kodiak penalty kill, and multiple 10-bell saves by the Kodiak netminder. The extra period solved nothing and the winner needed to be decided by a shootout. The Kodiak goalie continued to stand tall, as he stopped 3/4 shots and his shooters scored 3/4 to win the GB title, and punch their ticket to the AAA Boys OFSAA Championship. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff, and good luck at OFSAA!
