On June 11, Orillia Secondary School held their annual Athletic Banquet to celebrate their athletic achievements for the 2018-2019 season. The event was attended by over 200 athletes, coaches, administration, and community members. It was an outstanding evening with many athletes recognized for their successes this past year.
Highlights of the evening included the presentation of the OFSAA Sportsmanship award to the senior girls’ basketball team, as well as the presentation of the following OSS athletic awards recognizing outstanding athletic performance, character, leadership, and grit. The award winners included:
- Erin Moriarty, Garrett van Amelsvoort, and Eryn Babcock – OSS Athletic Performance Award
- Nolan Felstead – Russ Jerome Football Award
- Nicholas Stevenson – OSS Athletic Character Award
- Sasha Bylow and Riley Sampson – OSS True Grit Award
- Amy Hagman, Lauryn Buchan, Caleb Near, Olivia Karn, and Audrey Rieckenberg – Future Legends of OSS Award
- Ryan Heim – Legends of OSS Award
The Legends of OSS was awarded this year to Ryan Heim. Ryan has represented Orillia Secondary School with incredible performances in basketball over the past four years, having led his team to numerous championships and OFSAA appearances. Ryan’s leadership, work ethic, and outstanding character make him a very deserving recipient of this prestigious award
